So that´s why it´s called the Rainforest

After a 45 minute journey along the Amazon we reached our home for the next 4 nights, Ceiba Tops. We arranged to go on our first hike at 2.30. As we were getting ready the heavens opened to torrential rain and thunder growled in the distance. Undeterred,we walked first through secondary jungle, regrown after it had been cut back, then into primary, never been touched. The rain kept the birds and most animals away with only millipedes, poison dart frogs and a hardy group of Saddle Back Tamarind monkeys to be found.

The plant life was stunning with vivid hues accentuated by the backdrop of all shades of green. Birds of Paradise, Wild Ginger, Fungi in oranges, whites and yellows, the list went on, unfortunately our memories didn´t.
