Finally got there and found out we had missed the private air boat charters. Then as we stood there discussing what to do, an air boat flew into the small harbour with no passengers. It was piloted by one of the legends of the Everglades who hadn't been seen for a year following an accident. He was now fit and well and apparently 40lbs lighter and yes, he agreed to give us a tour. His first in 10 months. And it was great ! Gators quaked as he drove through the Everglades, rough shod over the mud banks in his path, birds flying in all directions.
